Ancajas 10-9, 20-17 Round 3 Gonzalez goes to the body. And they both had already won a world title by the time they came to the United States looking for bigger fights. Gonzalez getting increasingly gun shy although he's still standing in front of Ancajas. Round 10: Ancajas comes out laying back a bit, perhaps taking a short breather. Ramirez has a cut over the left brow, but it's further down and doesn't look like it'll effect the vision. He can be the next guy to carry boxing in the Philippines.
Hard jab lands again for Ancajas. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, who ascended to the top of the division after two wins over Roman Gonzalez, was by Juan Francisco Estrada this past weekend. Ancajas aims to someday fight them. I got into boxing because I wanted to be counted among the best. Gonzalez turning the pressure up and Ancajas seems to like it.
Ramirez 10-9, 49-46 Ramirez Round 6 Ahmed moving and trying to avoid letting Ramirez plant his feet. He's stalking, got Ahmed on the back foot. A huge right hook for Ramirez finally wobbles Ahmed. Round 7: Ancajas comes out with a few lead left hands which partially land. Ahmed tries a double right hand but it doesn't land with much pop. That makes Ramirez step back. A good left uppercut from Ancajas.
Ramirez straight left, right hook, down to the body. I see him as a real boxer, that is why I said to myself this fight will boil down to who will have the mentality, the brains. A good straight left from Ahmed. Round 4: Ramirez comes out pressing Ahmed again and touches him with a stiff jab. Ancajas measures and lands a left. A good left to the body from Ancajas. Ahmed already looking fatigued, Ramirez amping it up and Ramirez taking control.
Ancajas lands the jab, scores with a left. I think his legs are basically gone. Ahmed 10-9, 19-19 Round 3 Ramirez keeping Ahmed on the back foot. Now a hard straight left lands clean for Ancajas. So who has a chance to carry the mantle of Filipino boxing for the next few years? Ahmed showing off an impressive chin. At this point its all thats available to him as he works out the size difference.
Ancajas jabs to the body, they both land left hooks. Ancajas says he wants to face the best, Estrada included. Ancajas knocks Gonzalez back as he catches him while trying to throw a punch. He's doing a nice job keeping Gonzalez out of range and he's making him pay each time he steps in. But I watched a lot of Manny's videos, so maybe that's why. He has the speed, skill, head movement and movement around the ring but he does jab a lot as well. Ahmed doing nice to avoid getting trapped.
But he has the swagger and the same style. Ahmed not even trying to keep off the ropes much at this point. I want American fight fans to see more of me by coming up with a performance that's an improvement from my last few fights. He's cutting off the ring nicely on Ahmed. By the fourth it was clear that Ancajas could land his straight left at will as Gonzalez would go straight back and constantly failed to bring his hands back after punching.
A good straight left from Ramirez, Ahmed comes back with a combination. Hard jab snaps Gonzalez six inches back. Ancajas 10-9, 90-80 Round 10 Ancajas with a sharp left. As talent-rich as the division is, Ancajas has yet to face any of the bigger name players at 115. He carries the left high.
Ancajas controlling the fight with his jab. They're both southpaws who fire punches at unusual angles and have good power. Gonzalez was competitive but Ancajas appeared to win all of the rounds and scored three knockdowns. A left hook scores by Ancajas. Ahmed lands the right to the body. Gonzalez tries to retaliate with a big right hook but Ancajas easily slips away. He is moving confidently, looking to land something big.
